Sierra was born on January 30, 1994. She started rock climbing at the very young age of 8. Their house in Arizona was situated near a mall that had a portable rock climbing wall.
Young little Sierra tried out rock climbing for the very first time. She fell in love with it in that instance and she kept begging her parents to take her back to the mall since then. Little Sierra knew at that moment that she wanted to climb more, but didn’t realize it until later that she could do it professionally.
She was 11 when she first won the national championship with her team. Sierra started competing professionally at the age of 14.
Sierra Blair-Coyle was into gymnastics, among many other sports, when she was a kid. She’s only been climbing for two weeks before she was given the chance to enter her first competition.
She often works out with her mom who is a retired gymnastics coach. Her mom serves as her personal trainer who manages all of her strength training. Her spine injury almost ended her career but she got back to climbing sometime around 2015. Sierra did a deep water solo (free climbing) in Arizona as her comeback.

Sierra Blair-Coyle specializes in climbing boulders as a professional rock climber. Bouldering is a type of rock climbing wherein the climber strips down to just their climbing shoes and a bag of chalk, leaving the harnesses and ropes behind. Crash mats are left on the floor so they can catch the climbers in case they fall.
Sierra said in one interview that she’s interested in all styles of climbing, but bouldering is her favorite at the moment. She reveals in another interview with Stackpoole that V10 is the hardest climbed she ever did.
